I never thought I would be able to have a basement bathroom. But thanks to Saniflo, my dreams became a reality with one DIY solution!

When we were building our house they said that with the slope of our land we would have to do a lot more work to get a bathroom in the basement which equaled a lot more $$. We decided to opt out since we still had two full baths upstairs. Eventually we will have bedrooms in the basement for our kids so the thought of not having a bathroom for them really stunk. (See what I did there 😏)
Then one day I stumbled upon Saniflo and my dreams of having a bath in the basement became a reality!!! Saniflo has an upflush toilet system that can be used almost ANYWHERE! The best part? The sink hooks right into the toilet so no need for an extra drain! 😍Since we had already started framing out the basement, we carved out a small space of our storage room and this beauty was born and it’s everything I could have wanted! 🤍 💦🚽🧻
Deciding On Location
Since the framing process was already complete when we realized we could add a bathroom, we decided to carve out space in our storage room for it instead of loosing space from the main living areas. If you have an extra closet or space in your home, you could use that area too! My husband framed the room and hung the drywall. I did the mudding and finishing.
I decided to use Floorpops peel and stick vinyl floor tiles for this bathroom. Since I was laying it directly on concrete I needed to paint the floor first so that they tiles would adhere better.
Next I put the flooring in. This is a super simple install process that requires only a utility knife to cut the flooring! The pattern on the floor didn’t line up completely perfect, but honestly it isn’t noticeable at all once the whole room is complete! For just $30, I could not be happier with how it turned out! You can find the flooring HERE.
With the help of my dad, we set the Vanity in place, then measured the opening to decide where the Toilet would go. We went with the Saniaccess 2.
The Saniaccess 2 is ideal to create an additional half-bathroom anywhere.
- For half-bathroom applications
- ↑ 15 Ft ↑ and/or ← 150 Ft →
- Quietest pump on the market
- Easy dual-access service panels
Following the included installation instructions, my dad was able to plumb in the Saniaccess 2 behind the wall using the optional extension pipe. Using this method all of the rough plumbing for this bathroom is in our storage room!
Our Finished Basement Bathroom!
Once the toilet was fully installed and the vanity was connected, it was time for me to work my magic! Can you believe this beautiful bathroom was never going to exist. I am so thankful for Saniflo products and the ability to have a basement bathroom. This will be so helpful when the kids bedrooms are downstairs, and when we have events in the basement.
